Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

MEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO QUEENS IN CONFERENCE PLAY

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball Team was unable to pick up their second straight win earlier tonight as they suffered an 84-72 loss in their game against Queens College.  The Dolphins fall to 4-11 on the season with the loss and are now to 2-4 against the East Coast Conference.  The Knights improve 5-10 with the win and are 2-3 against the conference.

Continuing their trend of hot starts the Dolphins opened the game by scoring the first six points to go ahead 6-0, CSI's largest lead of the game.  The Dolphins would lead for much of the first half, but the Knights would take their first lead with just over 10 minutes to play before halftime.  Queens would go ahead by as many eleven in the half, but the Dolphins were able to remain within single-digits behind four first-half threes from Bryce Waterman.

The Dolphins came out of the locker room strong and quickly cut the ten-point Queens lead down to four, but the Knights slowly built the lead back up to double-digits with just over ten minutes to play.  From here, Queens would seize control of the game and went ahead by as many as nineteen points.  The Dolphins would not go away and trimmed the lead back down to single-digits with just under two minutes remaining. Eight was as close as they would get and CSI ultimately fell by twelve points, 84-72.

Only six Dolphins played more than 20 minutes in the game and only the five CSI starters registered points.  However, all five CSI starters scored in double-figures and the team shot nearly 42% from beyond the arc.  The Knights had two players surpass the 20-point mark including the returning Sunnie Diamond and Shamar Chester.  Diamond notched a 24-point, 10-rebound double-double and Chester scored 20 points while finishing just three rebounds shy of a double-double.  Jayden Seraphin also scored in double-figures for a Queens team that shot 46% from the field and 41% from beyond the arc.  The Knights also got 19 points from their bench compared to none for the Dolphins and finished with 25 fastbreak points.  Lastly, the Knight snapped their six-game losing streak with the victory.

The Dolphins wil return home on Saturday for a matchup with St. Thomas Aquinas College in the back half of a men's and women's basketball doubleheader.  The game between the Dolphins and Spartans will tip off at 3:00 PM.
