1/20/2023 9:00:00 PM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Swimming & Diving Team competed against a CUNYAC opponent for the second time this week earlier tonight as the Dolphins picked up a win over the Hunter College Hawks, 111-101.  The Dolphins improve to 5-4 on the season with the victory and the Hawks drop to 8-3 on the year with the loss.

After the Hawks opened the meet with a victory in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the Dolphins took the win in each of the next three events.  First, Melissa Poggioli picked up the win in the 1000 Yard Freestyle.  Jessica Johnson then won the 200 Yard Freestyle before Brooke Manning won the 50 Yard Freestyle.  After Germayne Chau of Hunter won the 200 Yard IM, Jordan Swanson competed unopposed in both 1 Meter and 3 Meter Diving to earn the Dolphins first-place points once again.

In the first event after Diving, Johnson earned another first-place finish in the 100 Yard Butterfly and Manning took first in the 100 Yard Freestyle.  Chau then earned Hunter another win in the 100 Yard Backstroke before Poggioli took the 500 Yard Freestyle for CSI.  In the final event the Dolphins competed in, Johnson earned her team yet another victory with a first-place finish in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.

The victory for the Dolphins is their first over Hunter College since the 2012-2013 season.  The victory also moves the Dolphins above the .500 mark on the season and is their second consecutive victory.

Following tonight's meet, only one meet remains on the CSI regular season schedule.  The Dolphins will wrap up their season at home on Senior Day next Wednesday, January 25th.  The men will face USMMA and the women will take on both USMMA and Kean.
