virtuBuffalo, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Soccer Team picked up a huge win to revitalize their playoff hopes earlier today as they defeated the D'Youville University Saints 4-1.  The Dolphins are now 3-6-4 on the season and are now 1-3-3 against the ECC.  The Saints remain winless in eleven games on the season and in six games against the ECC.  The Dolphins are now a perfect 3-0 against the Saints all-time.

It took the Dolphins just 40 seconds to score and they never looked back as Brendan Maguire opened the scoring with a goal less than one minute into the game.  Maguire then scored a second time less than two minutes later, and Daniel Angulo added a third goal less than ten minutes after that.  Jahmali Peterson continued the offensive surge for the Dolphins with a fourth goal in the 30th minute, the final Dolphins score.

The Saints would break through for their first goal shortly after halftime, but the CSI lead was never placed in any jeopardy as they went on to win 4-1.  The four-goal effort was the first for the Dolphins since their season-opener against Bloomfield, and the win was the first conference victory of the season.

With just one game left on their schedule against Molloy next Saturday, the Dolphins are guaranteed a chance to make the playoffs entering their final contest of the year.  The Dolphins would pass the Lions, who currently hold the final playoff spot, with a win against them next weekend.  However, Daemen University still has a chance to finish tied with the Dolphins in the standings if they win their remaining two conference games.  Should the Wildcats and Dolphins finish tied in the standings, the Wildcats would make the playoffs by virtue of their win over CSI earlier this season.
