Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

DOLPHINS WIN STREAK ENDS FOLLOWING SLOW START IN LOSS TO BENTLEY, 84-68

Waltham, MA - The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball Team saw their three-game win streak come to an end earlier today as they fell to the Bentley University Falcons by a final score of 84-68.  The Dolphins drop to 3-3 with the loss and the Falcons improve to 4-2 with the victory.

The Dolphins fell behind by 10 before they scored for the first time nearly five minutes into the game.  From there, the Dolphins pulled to within five two separate times, but a 9-0 run extended the Falcons lead to 14 points.  After the Bentley lead grew as large as 16 points, Aaron Goldstein caught fire for the Dolphins and quickly scored nine consecutive CSI points in less than two minutes.  However, the Dolphins did not record a single defensive stop during that stretch and sorely missed the presence of Messiah Mallory who was not available for the game.  The Dolphins would trim the lead to 11 by halftime and the Falcons took a 42-31 lead into the break.

The Dolphins came out strong in the second half and were able to pull to within single digits behind their defense.  CSI would get as close as eight points just over four minutes into the second half, but the Falcons were able to pull away from that point.  Seven straight Bentley points increased their lead to 15 before a 5-0 CSI run cut the lead back to 10.  After that, it was all Falcons, and Bentley would lead by as many as 22 before going on to win by 14.

Goldstein finished with 18 for the Dolphins and was the only player to score in double-figures for CSI.  Zach Laput led the Falcons in scoring with 21 and was one of four players to score in double-figures for Bentley.  The Falcons finished shooting 56% from the floor and scored 50 points in the paint while holding the Dolphins to just 37.5% shooting.

The Dolphins open their conference schedule on Wednesday night when they face the Molloy University Lions at 7 PM.
