Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

DOLPHINS FALL TO PANTHERS IN RETURN TO NON-CONFERENCE PLAY

Garden City, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Basketball Team lost their return to non-conference play earlier tonight as they were defeated by the Adelphi University Panthers, 75-49.  The Dolphins are now 5-5 on the season with the loss and the Panthers improve to 3-6 on the year with the victory.  The Adelphi win also evens the all-time series at one game per side.

The Panthers scored the game's first seven points before the Dolphins got on the board for the first time nearly three and a half minutes into the opening quarter on back-to-back threes by Dana Phelan.  From there, CSI would battle back to within one to end the first, and the Dolphins would take the lead for the first time at the midway point of the second on another three by Phelan.  However, the Panthers held the Dolphins scoreless for the rest of the quarter as they closed the half on a 6-0 and took a four-point lead into halftime.

After a tough close to the first half for the Dolphins, the third quarter saw the Panthers offense erupt for 30 points as their lead grew all the way to 20 points.  This left the Dolphins in need of a massive fourth quarter comeback, but the Adelphi lead was never threatened as they took the win, 75-49.

Phelan and Kyra Rose led the Dolphins with 11 points each and Rose also contributed 6 rebounds.  For the Panthers, it was a massive night for Jenna Jordan who scored 30 points to go along with 17 rebounds.  While the Dolphins did shoot 40% from beyond the arc in the game, they also committed 25 turnovers, ten of which came in the second quarter.

The Dolphins are next in action on Saturday at The Tank when they will face Caldwell University in their final game before the holiday recess.
