Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

DOLPHINS BACK IN WIN COLUMN WITH VICTORY OVER SAINT MICHAEL'S, 101-93

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball Team got back in the win column earlier today with a victory over Saint Michael's College as they defeated the Purple Knights, 101-93.  The Dolphins improve to 7-4 with the win and hand the 7-2 Purple Knights their second loss of the season.  The win is the second for the Dolphins against Saint Michael's in two meetings after winning by two points last season.

The two teams came out trading baskets early in the game as the two sides got off to strong starts offensively.  For the Dolphins, Bryce Waterman electrified The Tank with his outside shooting and Messiah Mallory was dominant from the mid-range.  On the other side, Jacob Dunniver was red-hot from beyond the arc, but the Dolphins shooting was too much to overcome in the game's opening minutes.  The Dolphins built a lead of 20 points by halftime behind 67% shooting, and Waterman finished the half with 20 points in the game's first 20 minutes.

Following the break, the Purple Knights slowly began to work their way back into the game as they scored 15 of the first 18 points in the second half.  This cut the CSI lead down to 8, but the Dolphins continued to keep Saint Michael's at arms-length behind the scoring of Mallory.  With the Purple Knights threatening a comeback, Mallory scored 9 straight points for the Dolphins to increase the lead back to 13.  Saint Michael's would not get within single digits again until the final three minutes, but Mallory and JJ Chestnut closed the door on the comeback bid from the free throw line.

Waterman continued his red-hot shooting to begin the season as he scored 27 points on 10-15 from the field and 7-11 from three-point range.  Mallory scored 30 for the first time this season to go along with 5 rebounds and 8 assists.  Chestnut scored 16 and had 4 rebounds and 9 assists.  Of CSI's 39 made field goals, 28 were assisted, and the team scored over 100 points for the first time this year.

Men's Basketball returns to action on December 28th
at the College of Saint Rose before taking their home court just two days later against the University of New Haven.
