Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

MEN'S BASKETBALL COMPLETES CSI SWEEP OF QUEENS WITH 78-62 WIN

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball Team made it a Dolphins sweep of Queens College with a win earlier today and defeated the Knights by a final score of 78-62.  The Dolphins improve to 5-3 on the year and improve to 2-0 in conference play.  The Knights fall to 4-3 on the season and even up their conference record at 1-1.

For the second time in their last two home games the Dolphins generated a ton of momentum early and jumped out to an early 8-0 lead less than two minutes into the game.  This forced a Knights timeout, and Queens was able to recover following the stoppage.  The Knight fought their way back to within two points, 16-14, but the outside shooting of Bryce Waterman was too much to overcome.  Waterman connected on four first-half three-pointers and the Dolphins shot over 45% from the field through the first 20 minutes.  JJ Chestnut also provided the Dolphins with strong play in the first half as CSI went into the break leading by 17.

Following halftime, the Knights trimmed the 17-point CSI lead all the way down to 7 before CSI scored any second-half points.  This prompted a Dolphins timeout which completely shifted the momentum back in their favor.  Out of the timeout, Waterman hit his fifth three of the game to put the Dolphins back up by 10.  From there, CSI would never look back and proceeded to build their lead all the way up to 21 points.  The Knights would not get within single-digits beyond the 12:43 mark in the second half and the Dolphins cruised to their second conference win.

Jordan McAllister and Aaron Goldstein joined Chestnut and Waterman in double-figures for the Dolphins and Messiah Mallory scored 6 in his return to the lineup.  Dante Griffin led the way for Queens with 15 points, but the Knights could not overcome their 5-20 shooting from beyond the arc.  On the other side, the Dolphins shot 7-13 from distance.

The Dolphins face Mercy University at 7 PM on Wednesday night before returning home next Saturday to face St. Thomas Aquinas College at The Tank.
