Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

STRONG FIRST HALF POWERS MEN'S BASKETBALL TO WIN OVER MERCY, 81-61

Dobbs Ferry, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball Team extended their conference win streak to three games earlier tonight as they defeated the Mercy University Mavericks, 81-61.  The Dolphins improve to 6-3 with the win and are now 3-0 in conference play.  The Mavericks remain winless at 0-8 and are 0-2 against the ECC.

The Dolphins scored the first six points of the game and never led by less than that margin.  Late in the first half, consecutive threes by Messiah Mallory and Bryce Waterman put the Dolphins ahead by 20 for the first time, and CSI would go into the locker room leading by 19.  The Mavericks would get as close as 14 early in the second half, but the Dolphins surged ahead by 22 points just minutes later.  The CSI lead would never be in any jeopardy the rest of the way and the Dolphins went on to win by 20.

The Dolphins played all of their active players in tonight's game and Mallory led all scorers with 16 points in just 24 minutes.  He also added 13 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.  Waterman, JJ Chestnut, and Jordan McAllister all joined Mallory in double-figures despite none of them playing more than 30 minutes.  Chris Clancy and Shemar Latty each added 8 points off the bench as well and the Dolphins scored at least 80 points for the fourth time this season.

Men's Basketball returns home on Saturday when they will face St. Thomas Aquinas College at The Tank in the second game of a conference doubleheader.  Tipoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
