Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

DOLPHINS DROP 2023 FINALE ON THE ROAD AGAINST SETTERS, 61-50

Pleasantville, NY - The College of Staten Island Women's Basketball Team dropped their final game of 2023 earlier today as the fell to Pace University 61-50.  The Dolphins are now 5-7 on the season while the Setters improve to 10-1 on the year.  The Setters also secure the lead in the all-time series as they have now won two of three games against the Dolphins.

After scoring 7 points in the opening minutes, 5 belonging to Ashley Lambert, the Dolphins did not score again for the remainder of the first quarter.  This allowed Pace to build and 11-point lead in the game's first 10 minutes, and the Dolphins played from behind the rest of the way.  The Setters would go in front by as many as 17 in the second, and Pace ultimately took a 13-point lead into the half.

Just as she started the game, Lambert provided much of the CSI offense early in the second half.  Six straight points from Lambert quickly cut the Pace lead down to 7, but the Setters wasted no time putting together a 5-0 run.  The Dolphins would continue to chip away and pulled back to within 8, but CSI would not get any close than that until the closing minutes.  The second of consecutive Dana Phelan threes brought the deficit down to 7 with 1:29 remaining, but this was as close as CSI would get in a 61-50 defeat.

Lambert led CSI with 15 followed by Kyra Rose with 13.  Tower Lorde led the Setters with 19 and was just one rebound shy of a double-double.  From the field, the Dolphins shot shy of 32% while the Setters shot nearly 45% from the floor.  However, it was the slow start that hampered the Dolphins as both teams scored 43 points across the final three quarters.

The Dolphins will play their next game on Wednesday night at The Tank when they host Post University at 5:30 PM.
