SEVERO SETS ANOTHER NEW CSI RECORD AS DOLPHINS COMPETE IN DESCHRIVER INVITATIONAL

2/5/2023 7:30:00 PM

East Stroudsburg, PA - The College of Staten Island Indoor Track & Field Team participated in the DeSchriver Invitational earlier today.  This week, one more program record fell as the Dolphins competed away for Staten Island for the second consecutive meet.  Today also marked the first time that the Dolphins have competed in the DeSchriver Invitational in the 23-year history of the event.

Today's outing for the Dolphins was highlighted by the performance of Jazmine Severo for the second consecutive week as she set yet another CSI program record in the High Jump.  Severo bested her ECC-leading mark of 1.61m with a height of 1.63 m in today's meet.  Once again, that mark was good for a first-place finish in today's meet, the lone first-place finish for the Dolphins on the day.  Three Dolphins, Skylar Pointer, Ava Thompson, and Aryanna Finkelstein, placed in the Weight Throw and both Pointer and Finkelstein placed in the Shot Put as well.

On the track, Alexandrea Jackson took fourth in the 1000-Meter Run narrowly missing third by less than two seconds.  Jackson also placed in the 400-Meter along with Angelina Guerriero who placed in both the 400 and 200-Meter.  Guerriero was joined by Fabiola Jean placing in the 200-Meter and Jean also placed in the 55-Meter as well.  For the men, Stephen Andes placed in both the 55-Meter and the Long Jump, and Cole Enslen, who also placed in the Long Jump, placed in the 200-Meter as well.  Matthew Amato and Alan Bass each placed in both the 1000-Meter and the 1 Mile and Jamel Reynolds placed in the 400-Meter.

The Dolphins have just one meet remaining before the East Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship.  On Friday, the team will return to Ocean Breeze to compete in the Fast Track Invite.  Nine days later, they will conclude the season at the ECC Championship.
