4/15/2023 9:00:00 PM

West Chester, PA - The College of Staten Island Outdoor Track & Field Team competed in the Bill Butler Invitational for the first time earlier today.  In the meet, the Dolphins secured a first-place finish and two runners achieved a pair of collegiate-bests.  This follows a week where every Track athlete that competed set a collegiate-best time and Jazmine Severo was named East Coast Conference Field Athlete of the Week.

Severo continued her streak of first-place finishes in the High Jump at today's meet taking the top mark in the event with a height of 1.61m.  She was joined in the field on the women's side by Skylar Pointer, Aryanna Finkelstein, and Ava Thompson.  Pointer once again competed in both the Shot Put and the Hammer Throw achieving distances of 10.23m and 34.34m.  Competing in the Shot Put, Finkelstein hit a mark of 9.25m, and in the Discus, Thompson hit a distance of 29.13m.  Stephen Andes represented the CSI men in the field achieving a distance of 4.49m in the Long Jump.

The lone competitor for the CSI women on the track was Angelina Guerriero who competed in the 400-Meter Dash.  She finished a fraction of a second behind her collegiate-best mark with a time of 1:08.52.  For the men, Muhammed Qadri set a new personal-best in the same event with a time of 55.33.  In the 1500-Meter Run, Matthew Amato also achieved a personal-best with a time of 4:55.33.

The Dolphins will be back in Pennsylvania next week when they take part in the Misericordia Invitational.  That meet will take place next Friday and will be one of two meets remaining ahead of the 2023 East Coast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
