MEETDAY: SWIMMING & DIVING RENEWS RIVALRY WITH BARUCH IN RETURN TO ACTION

1/15/2024 6:00:00 AM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Swimming & Diving Team hosts their first meet of the new year this afternoon as they renew their rivalry with former CUNYAC foe Baruch College.  The Dolphins were last in action in mid-December when they closed out their 2023 slate against Pace University.  The CSI men scored their fourth win of the season in that meet to improve to 4-4 while the CSI women enter the day at 3-7.  The Baruch men enter the day unbeaten at 7-0 and the women come in at 8-1.

The Dolphins scored a pair of decisive wins when the teams met last season and the CSI men hold a 13-6 lead in the all-time series.  The Bearcats hold the same 13-6 advantage over the CSI women.  Prior to last season, the Bearcats had won three straight matchups with the CSI men and eleven straight meetings with the CSI women.  Before that streak began, the CSI men won the first nine meets against Baruch and the CSI women had won five of seven outings against the Bearcats.

Today's meet will be the first of two remaining for the Dolphins ahead of the first-ever appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship.  Following today's matchup with Baruch, the Dolphins will wrap up the regular season schedule at home on Senior Night as they host Brooklyn College.
