Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

DOLPHINS SCORE DECISIVE WIN OVER WILMINGTON BEHIND 35-POINT FIRST QUARTER

Wilmington, DE - The College of Staten Island Women's Basketball Team scored a decisive win over Wilmington University earlier tonight as they scored 35 points in the opening quarter of a 76-38 victory.  The Dolphins move back above the .500 mark on the season with the win and are now 3-2 on the season.  The Wildcats fall to 0-5 with the loss, and the Dolphins now lead the all-time series 4-2.

The Dolphins were dominant in the opening quarter and scored 13 of the game's first 14 points.  Eight of those were scored by Amber Abusbeih who finished the game with a team-high 21 points.  After the Wildcats pulled back to within ten, the Dolphins ended the period on a 22-2 run, and CSI ended the first leading 35-5.  In an extremely low-scoring second quarter, the Dolphins extended their lead slightly behind a 10-6 period.  This sent the Dolphins to the half leading by 34.

It was a much better second half for the Wildcats, but the CSI lead was never in any jeopardy the rest of the way.  No CSI starter surpassed 30 minutes, and the Dolphins bench contributed 33 points.  Leading the way for the bench unit was Mia Fuller who scored 14 in her return to Wilmington for a matchup with her former team.  She joined Abusbeih as the only two Dolphins in double-figures, but every Dolphin who entered the game scored.  Ultimately, CSI went on to double up the Wildcats winning the game 76-38.

The Dolphins return home for the first time since opening weekend on Saturday when they host Pace University at 1:00 PM.
