DOLPHINS FALL TO OWLS IN THIRD HEAD-TO-HEAD NE-10 CONFERENCE MEET

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Swimming & Diving Team hosted their final meet of the calendar year today as they welcomed in the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University in Northeast-10 Conference Competition. Competing against the NE-10 for the third time this season, the Dolphins dropped two results to the Owls, 117-77 in the women's meet, and 135-99 in the men's meet. The CSI men fall to 3-3 with the loss and the SCSU men improve to 3-4. For the Dolphins, the women are now 2-6. For SCSU, the women improve to 4-5.

The Dolphins scored their first victory of the meet in women's 1-Meter Diving when Jordan Swanson and Jacqueline DeFranco finished one and two to open the meet. CSI's first contested victory came in the pool when the men took the win in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Anthony Attenborough, who contributed to that winning relay, also took gold in the 200 Free. Immediately following his first-place finish, Jessica Johnson took first in the 50 Free. William Kwan then placed first in the 200 IM and Nicholas Tartaglione placed first in the 100 Fly.

After a series of victories for the Owls, Vlad Siniagovskii earned the Dolphins another top finish in the 100 Back. DeFranco also scored an uncontested win in 3-Meter Diving and Johnson narrowly took first in the 100 Breast. These would be the final Dolphin victories of the meet as the Owls improved to 4-0 against the Dolphins dating back to last season.

Today's meet was the last of 2024 for the Dolphin swimmers, and they will not return to action until the middle of January. Their first meet back will be at home against another NE-10 program in Assumption University on January 14, 2025. However, the CSI divers will be right back in action tomorrow at the Pace Diving Invitational. That meet gets underway at 4:00 PM.
