Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

MEN'S BASKETBALL EARNS SPLIT OF SEASON SERIES AGAINST ROBERTS WESLEYAN WITH DECISIVE WIN, 86-61

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball Team earned a split of the season series with Roberts Wesleyan University earlier tonight with a decisive 86-61 win over the Red Hawks.  The Dolphins improve to 17-8 on the year and 11-3 in conference play.  With the win, the Dolphins need to win just one of their last two games to earn a first round bye in the conference playoffs.  The Red Hawks fall to 10-12 on the year with the loss and are now 7-6 against the ECC.

The Dolphins started strong once again and led 7-1 in the game's opening minutes.  That lead was quickly erased by consecutive Red Hawks threes, and Roberts Wesleyan would go in front for the first time moments later.  The Dolphins would take the lead for good at the 11:38 mark in the first half on a Chris Clancy jumper, and that lead would grow as large as 14 in the half.  The Red Hawks would trim the lead down to nine late in the half, but the Dolphins maintained a double-digit lead at halftime, 38-28.

The CSI lead would never fall below eight in the second half despite one of the team's tougher games shooting from the outside.  Powered by an offense that was dominant in the paint, the CSI lead grew as large as 29 in the half.  The Red Hawks were never within striking distance again during the final ten minutes, and the Dolphins cruised to an 86-61 win.

Four Dolphins scored in double-figures behind an incredible 58 points in the paint.  During the second half, CSI shot over 72% and CSI scored 22 points off turnovers in the game.  The bench scored 40 points, and the CSI defense held the Red Hawks to just 32.3% shooting.

The Dolphins are back at home on Saturday for their final non-conference game when they host Bloomfield College at 2:00 PM.
