Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

GOLDSTEIN'S CAREER-HIGH LEADS SHORT-HANDED DOLPHINS PAST QUEENS, 81-72

Flushing, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball Team overcame the absence of two starters and one reserve in today's game to to pick up a win against Queens College in their final outing before the playoffs, 81-72.  The Dolphins finish the regular season 19-9 overall and 13-3 in conference play.  This marks a 10-win improvement over last season and is the highest win total for the team since the 2016-2017 season.  The Knights end the regular season 12-15 with a 6-10 record in conference play.

The new-look starting unit for the Dolphins got off to a strong start as CSI jumped out to an early 7-2 lead.  That lead would grow as large as 12 in the first half, but the final minutes before halftime belonged to the Knights.  A 12-3 run by Queens turned a 34-26 deficit into a one-point lead with three minutes to go until halftime.  From there, the two sides traded baskets for the remainder of the half and the Knights went into the locker ahead by two.

Following halftime, the Dolphins pushed their lead back to six points, and CSI would not trail for the remainder of the game after that.  Aaron Goldstein, Shemar Latty and Bryce Waterman led the way for the Dolphins offensively as they outscored the Knights by 11 in the second half.  Queens would get as close as three with 11 minutes to play, but a 9-2 run put CSI back ahead double-digits.  Consecutive threes by Latty and Waterman increased the lead to 14 soon after, and the Dolphins closed out the regular season with an 81-72 victory.

Goldstein scored a career-high 29, Waterman scored 16, and Latty scored 15 as the Dolphins shot 50% from the field and 45% from three.  Yet another highly efficient shooting effort sees the Dolphins finish the regular season 45% from the floor and 38% from beyond the arc.

The Dolphins will now have a week off ahead of the East Coast Conference Championship Semifinal matchup.  They will await the winner of the #3 vs #6 seed game between Daemen University and Queens College.  The Dolphins swept both teams during the regular season.
