DOLPHINS SWEPT BY D'YOUVILLE IN SATURDAY DOUBLEHEADER

Niagara Falls, NY – The College of Staten Island Baseball Team lost twice on the road today as they were swept in Saturday's doubleheader by D'Youville University.  With the two losses, the Dolphins fall to 12-22 on the year and 7-12 in conference play.  The Saints are now 21-17 on the season and 10-5 against the ECC.

GAME 1
The Dolphins struck first in game one with an RBI infield single by Chris Polemeni, but this would be the last time CSI would lead on the day.  D'Youville immediately answered in the home first with a two-run homer by Jeremy Glinski, and the Saints would never trail again.  D'Youville would extend their lead to three with two runs in the third, but the game was broken open by the Saints in the fifth.  Eight runs in the inning put the game out of reach for the Dolphins as CSI went on to lose 14-4.

GAME 2
Just as the Dolphins did in game one, the Saints took the early lead with a run in the first inning of game two.  Two innings later, the Saints would put up double-digit runs in an inning for the second time in as many days.  An eleven-spot in the third made it 12-0 Saints, and D'Youville pitching would hold the Dolphins scoreless until the final inning.  Chris Bartnik and Vincent Weigele each singled home one in the seventh, but CSI suffered another lopsided defeat, 13-2.

The Dolphins had six hits in each game and allowed a combined 31 hits across the two games of the doubleheader.  Weigele had two hits in addition to his RBI in game two, but no other Dolphin registered multiple hits in either game.

Looking to salvage a win in the four-game series, the Dolphins face D'Youville once more tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
