BIG OFFENSIVE DAY POWERS MOLLOY TO SENIOR DAY SWEEP OF CSI

Staten Island, NY – The College of Staten Island Baseball Team dropped two more game to Molloy University on Senior Day earlier today as the Lions erupted for 25 runs across to decisive wins over the Dolphins.  With the losses, the Dolphins fall to 12-26 on the year and 7-16 against the ECC.  The Lions are now 33-10 on the year and 15-4 in conference play.  Molloy has now won the first three games of the series ahead of Sunday's finale in Uniondale.

Ahead of game two the Dolphins recognized three seniors who will be graduating from the program following the 2024 season.  Nick Campisi, Bryan Birkhead, and Thomas Marten were all celebrated ahead of the second of the two games today.  The trio of Dolphins are the first four-year Division II recruits to graduate from the program under head coach Mike Mauro and each will play in their final home game next weekend.

Neither team would score until the fifth inning of game one which is when the Lions finally broke through against CSI starter Gerard Santos.  Four hits and two CSI errors helped the Lions plate three runs giving Molloy all of the offense they would need.  Once Santos departed in the seventh, Molloy would break the game wide open against the CSI bullpen scoring six runs on seven hits in the seventh inning.  This put the game out of reach as Molloy went on to win 9-0.

In game two, the Dolphins surrendered eight in the first inning and were not able to recover.  Molloy would add four in the third and two in the fourth before the Dolphins scored for the first time in the home fourth inning.  RBI hits by Nicholas Rodrizgues and Thomas Marten made it 14-2, but the Lions would score the final two runs on their way to a 16-2 victory.

The Dolphins will conclude their series against the Lions tomorrow as they hit the road for their final conference game of the season.
