DOLPHINS CONCLUDE CONFERENCE PLAY WITH LOSS AT MOLLOY, 12-2

Uniondale, NY – The College of Staten Island Baseball Team concluded conference play earlier today as they lost to Molloy University on the road, 12-2.  The Dolphins fall to 12-27 on the season with loss and they finish conference play 7-17.  The Lions improve to 34-10 on the season and are 16-4 in conference play.  The Lions win earns them a sweep of the season series against the Dolphins improves their advantage in the all-time series to 13-1.

The Lions started off strong at the plate once again as they scored twice in the first inning to take the lead for good.  AJ Devito's home run opened the scoring and made it 1-0 before an Anthony Manisero RBI single increased the lead to 2-0.  Devito would drive home another run in the second with a double and Manisero would drive in two more with a double of his own.  The lead for Molloy was 6-0 after two, and this is all the offense they would need.  The Dolphins would get a run back in the third on an AJ Vigliotti's sacrifice fly, but the Lions answered with a run of their own in the home half of the inning.  Leading 7-1, Molloy would score three in the sixth and two in the eighth to go ahead 12-1.  Chris Polemeni would double home a run for CSI in the ninth, but this was all the Dolphins would get in the inning as they fell, 12-2.

Though the team scored only two runs in the loss, CSI finished the game with eleven hits.  Five of those belonged to Bryan Birkhead who was a perfect 5-5 at the plate.

The Dolphins will play four non-conference games next week with their 2024 season finale coming on Heroes Day next Saturday.  On Tuesday, the Dolphins will host Adelphi University, and on Thursday the Dolphins will visit Caldwell University.  The Dolphins will then wrap up the season with a doubleheader against Holy Family University on Saturday.
