STEPHENSON PLACES 5TH INDIVIDUALLY; WOMEN PLACE 5TH AS A TEAM AT FRED PAVLICH INVITATIONAL

Annadale-on-Hudson, NY - The College of Staten Island Cross-Country Team had an impressive showing at today's Fred Pavlich Invitational during what was their second outing of the 2024 Cross-Country season.  The CSI men placed 7th as a team highlighted by a 5th-place finish for Wayne Stephenson individually.  The CSI women placed 5th as a unit with four separate runners placing top 40 in a field of 100 runners.

For the CSI women, Angelina Guerriero, Alexandrea Jackson, Elizabeth Nicotra, and Adonijah Washington all finished in the top 40 during the 6K.  Guerriero led the way with a time of 27:59.8 followed by Nicotra about 40 seconds behind her pace.  Finally, Washington and Jackson both finished the race in just shy of 30 minutes.  Also helping the CSI women's squad to a 5th-place team finish were Camryn Koch and Mary-Lee Mitchell who competed today for the second time as Dolphins.

Setting the pace for the CSI men in the 8K was Stephenson who placed 5thoverall among all men's runners with a time of 28:33.2.  This time was not only good for fifth overall, but it also placed him in the top 20 in CSI Cross-Country program history for the third time in his Dolphins career.  Matthew Amato and Kelon Martin both finished around the 33-minute mark and placed in the top 30 as well.  Maxwell Ming finished closely behind that duo with a time of 53:41.4 followed by Jamel Reynolds and Stephen Lau rounding out the men's 7th-place squad.

The Dolphins will be back in two weeks from today when they travel to Branch Brook Park in Newark for the NJIT Highlander Invitational.
