1/10/2025 11:00:00 PM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Indoor Track & Field Team kicked off 2025 earlier today with their first competitive outing of the new year at the Spartan Invitational.  Competing in the meet for the sixth time in program history, the Dolphins set one new program record and came close to setting additional records throughout the meet.  Several Dolphins also posted times that placed them near the top of some very large fields during their first outing in nearly a month.

In the men's meet, Jeremiah Downer got things started with a new program record in the 60 Hurdles for the second consecutive meet.  Wayne Stephenson then posted a 22nd-place finish in a field of 56 for the Mile finishing just three seconds off his own record pace.  Ibrahima Diallo posted another impressive taking 15th in the 400-Meter Dash.  His time of 51.07 was just over a second behind the program record and put him near the top in the field of 88 runners.  Josmy Cerda also finished within two seconds of a program record in the 800-Meter posting a time of 2:02.27 in a 13th-place finish.  Coming even closer to a new program record was Vincent Ohenhen in the 200-Meter Dash with a time of 22.57 seconds.  He was one of six Dolphins to compete in the event, and his time was good for 13th in the field of 107.

In the women's meet, Adonijah Washington posted a time of 9.65 in the 60 Hurdles, just .18 seconds off a program record.  Inioluwa Ogunfowora and Precious Dillon both posted times in the top half of a large field in the 60-Meter Dash, and Elizabeth Nicotra did the same in the 800-Meter Run.  Dillon once again placed in the top half of another crowded field in the 200-Meter Dash posting a time of 27.55.  In Throws, Ava Thompson placed 11th in the field of 54 in the Weight Throw, and Skylar Pointer placed 26th in the same event.  Finally, Washington placed 4th overall in the Triple Jump with a distance of 11.19m.  Alexandra Tavarez and Alexis Doyle joined her in the top half of the field of 32 as well.
