1/25/2025 8:30:00 AM

New York, NY - The College of Staten Island Indoor Track & Field Team got off to a strong start on day one of the Dr. Norb Sander Invitational yesterday earning three placements in the top five across two separate events.  Day two of this weekend's meet was highlighted by a pair of new program records, one in the Long Jump and another in the Men's 4x400 Relay.  Personal bests were also achieved throughout the weekend as the Dolphins continue to build towards their season finale at the East Coast Conference Track & Field Championship.

DAY 1
The first standout effort for the Dolphins came in the men's 400-Meter Dash as two separate runners placed in the top five.  First, Ibrahima Diallo placed third overall with a personal best time of 50.66s, now also the best time in the ECC.  Right behind him was Karran Riley who placed fourth with a time of 50.79s.  The duo achieved these finishes in a field of 48 runners and both continue to rank among the best in the East Coast Conference in the event.  Entering the weekend, Riley had the best time in the ECC in the event followed immediately by Diallo.  In addition to the third and fourth place efforts for Diallo and Riley, Adonijah Washington placed third in the Triple Jump.  Competing in a field of 23, the freshman posted a distance of 11.18m.  She currently ranks third in the ECC in the event with a season-best distance of 11.47m.  Another big performance for the women belonged to Elizabeth Nicotra in the 800-Meter.  She once again achieved a personal best in the event with a time of 2:29.70.  She currently ranks just outside the top ten in the conference for the event and has consistently posted improvements to her time over the course of the Indoor season.

DAY 2
The second day of competition was highlighted for the Dolphins by a pair of program records on the men's side.  First, Jeremiah Downer set another new personal best and program record in the Long Jump with a distance of 6.13m.  The CSI men added one more program record in the 4x400 Relay after the women did the same last week.  For the men, Vincent Ohenhen, Riley, Steven Elcock, and Diallo posted a time of 3:27.58, the best in program history.  This time is good for top three in the conference this year and within three seconds of the top time in the ECC this season.

The Dolphins will have one last outing before the ECC Championship next Saturday at the Crimson Open.
