Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

KONE RECORDS 22-POINT, 11-REBOUND DOUBLE-DOUBLE AGAINST FORMER TEAM IN BIG DOLPHINS WIN, 106-89

Dobbs Ferry, NY - The College of Staten Island Men's Basketball Team picked up their third conference win of the season earlier tonight as they defeated Mercy University, 106-89.  The win improves the Dolphins to 7-9 on the year and 3-1 against the ECC.  The Mavericks fall to 3-11 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

The Dolphins jumped out to an early lead for the second straight game, and the CSI lead reached double-digits for the first time with eleven minutes to play in the first half.  Behind 42% outside shooting and an strong offensive start for Asa Kone, the Dolphins went ahead by as many as sixteen before halftime.  However, the Mavericks scored thirteen straight points to cut the Dolphins lead to three, and Mercy would eventually get as close as two before the break.  Despite the Mercy run, CSI would never surrender the lead, and the Dolphins led by twelve at halftime.

The CSI lead reached 20 for the first time with 17:26 remaining in the game, and Mercy would not get any closer than fourteen the rest of the way.  Kone went on to finish the game with 22 points and 11 rebounds against his former team.  Aaron Goldstein followed his ECC Player of the Week award with another big outside shooting performance that included four more threes.  JJ Chestnut scored 17 and Chris Clancy added 14 as that duo also combined for six more three-pointers.

The Dolphins will go for a fourth straight conference win at home on Saturday as they renew their rivalry with St. Thomas Aquinas College at The Tank.
