WILMINGTON, DE – The College of Staten Island women's basketball team will hit the road for the first time this season later today as they visit the Goldey-Beacom College Lightning at 6:00 p.m.. The meeting will be the fourth between the two programs, and the Dolphins will be seeking their first win against the Lightning in program history.
Following a 20-point victory over Franklin Pierce on opening night during the East Region Conference Challenge, a late Dolphins comeback bid fell just short against St. Michael's College on Sunday. Four Dolphins enter the night averaging double-figures on the season led by Shonyae Edmonds and Dana Phelan with 14.0 points. Racky Kane comes in scoring 13.0 per game and Kyra Rose has added 11.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Leading the way on the glass is Arielle Barnes with 10.5 rebounds per game, and the Dolphins are shooting 40% from the floor as a team.
The Lightning opened their season with back-to-back matchups against ECC programs in the University of the District of Columbia and Daemen University. In their season opener, they fell to the Firebirds by six in a low-scoring affair, 43-37. The following day, they suffered a lopsided defeat against the Wildcats to fall to 0-2.
