EAST STROUDSBURG, PA – The College of Staten Island women's basketball team will play the second of consecutive road games this afternoon as they visit the Warriors of East Stroudsburg University (ESU). The Dolphins enter today's game with a record of 2-1 following a win against Goldey-Beacom College on Wednesday. The Warriors are also 2-1 on the year, but ESU is coming off their first loss of the season on Wednesday at Jefferson.
Racky Kane scored 20 points or more for the second time in three games on Wednesday against the Lightning and she continues to lead the Dolphins in scoring at 15.3 points per game. She is one of five Dolphins who enter the day averaging double-figures and is just two rebounds shy of averaging a double-double. Fellow first-year Dolphins Shonyae Edmonds is just behind Kane in scoring at 14.0 points per game, and Arielle Barnes is leading the way on the glass with over nine rebounds per game. Both Edmonds and Kane are shooting at least 59% from the field, and the Dolphins are shooting 41% as a team.
After two wins to open their season during the Bowie State Tip-Off Classic the Warriors suffered their first loss on Wednesday at Jefferson. Brie Droege comes in the leading scorer for ESU with 15.3 points per game and Brooke Droege isn't far behind with 13.7 points per game. Brie Droege is shooting 50% from the field as well, and Lacie Kringe (9.7 ppg) is shooting over 48% from the floor. As a team, the Warriors are shooting under 35%. However, they have held opponents under 32% shooting though their first three games of the season.
