STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island women's basketball team will travel to Washington, D.C., on Saturday afternoon to take on the University of the District of Columbia in another East Coast Conference (ECC) matchup.

The Dolphins enter the contest looking to snap a six-game skid, but they carry confidence into the meeting after sweeping the Firebirds in last year's regular-season series. In the first contest on Dec. 14, 2024, CSI pulled away for a 62–54 win, holding UDC to just seven points in the third quarter while scoring 15. Dana Phelan led all scorers with 18 points, knocking down five threes and grabbing nine rebounds. The Dolphins completed the sweep on Feb. 8, 2025, at the Tank, using a dominant 28-point second quarter to fuel a 76–67 victory.

This season, CSI is led by the trio of Shonyae Edmonds, Racky Kane, and Kyra Rose, each averaging around 12.0 points per game or more. Kane anchors the defense with a team-high nine blocks in eight games, while Rose leads the Dolphins on the glass with 8.3 rebounds per contest. UDC counters with three players averaging over 11.0 points per game and a top rebounder pulling down 8.6 boards per outing.

In conference play, UDC currently holds the edge with a 1–1 record following an overtime win against St. Thomas Aquinas. CSI, meanwhile, is still seeking its first ECC victory of the season.
