GAMEDAY: WOMEN’S FLAG FOOTBALL TEAM TO COMPETE IN INAUGURAL NATIONAL COLLEGIATE FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE SEASON & CHAMPIONSHIPS

Staten Island, NY – If you're looking for a weekend filled with Women's Flag Football Collegiate athletic competition, then the College of Staten Island is where you want to be. Nine collegiate programs will be competing in the Staten Island Shootout Tournament of the National Collegiate Flag Football League's (NCFFL) inaugural season on CSI's Multi-use Turf Field. A total of nine games are scheduled to be played starting on Saturday and continuing on Sunday morning to complete the NCFFL seeding.

The NCFFL kicked off their season with the Battle in Buffalo Tournament in mid-March which featured four collegiate programs competing either for the tournament itself or as part of the NCFFL season. All but one of those teams will be back for the SI Shootout tournament this weekend. Aside from our own CSI Dolphins Women's Flag Football Sports Club Team, the other colleges in attendance will be SUNY Cortland, Wagner, SUNY Brockport, University of Albany, Villa Maria College, Howard Community College, St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) and St. Joseph's (Long Island). All teams will be playing in a round-robin style tournament, that will continue into Sunday morning before turning over to the NCFFL Championships Sunday afternoon. There, the top four seeded teams will begin their chase for the first-ever NCFFL Championship Trophy.

Our CSI Dolphins Flag team will feature a competing roster of 13 sports club athletes who have been practicing since the Fall semester. Preparing for this moment since the start of the season, the Dolphins are eager to get on the field for their first opportunity to showcase what they can do as a cohesive unit. They are led by their Head Coach, Frank Jennaco, and his assistants, Nicole Lifrieri, Lucana Pabon-Troia, Francesco Confessore, and Joseph Sutera. CSI will be matched up against the University of Albany and St. Joseph's (Long Island) on Saturday; game times are set for 2:20 PM & 5:00 PM, respectively.
