MEN'S SOCCER HOLDS OFF MOLLOY WITH GAME TYING PENTALTY KICK

STATEN ISLAND, NY - The College of Staten Island men's soccer team hosted an East Coast Conference (ECC) contest against Molloy University on Saturday afternoon at Dolphin Soccer Park. The Lions controlled much of the game, but a crucial mistake in the box led to a Dolphins penalty kick, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

From the jump, the Lions applied early pressure with back-to-back shots that put the Dolphins on their heels. Koray Arslan, Wolfgang Alvarado, and Peterson Larose recorded the first attempts for CSI, but it was the Lions who found the back of the net for the game's opening and only first-half goal, taking a 1-0 lead into the break.

The Dolphins have developed a pattern this season of finding a second wind late in the game to either win or force a draw. After a cross to Alvarado on the far side of the field, the Lions committed a crucial handball, setting up a penalty kick for the Dolphins. Larose converted the opportunity, scoring the equalizer to secure a 1-1 draw and Dolphins now sit at 1-3-3 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play.

The College of Staten Island men's soccer team will be back in action on Oct. 1 against St. Thomas Aquinas at 2:30 PM in Sparkill, NY.
