DOBBS FERRY, NY – The College of Staten Island women's basketball team will hit the road Saturday morning to face Mercy University in Dobbs Ferry, NY, with tip-off scheduled for 12:00 PM. The Dolphins are coming off a statement win over St. Thomas Aquinas College on Wednesday and will look to carry that momentum into their second meeting of the season against the Mavericks.
Dolphins Attempting To Bounce Back
Saturday's contest marks the second regular-season meeting between the two teams, as the Dolphins look to even the season series at 1-1 after falling to Mercy, 71-52, in their East Coast Conference (ECC) opener at the Tank. Today's contest will also be the deciding factor of who will hold the overall season meeting record as it sits tied, 5-5. The Mavericks jumped out to a 22-9 first-quarter lead, putting CSI in an early 13-point hole, and were able to maintain control the rest of the way despite a 20-point fourth quarter by the Dolphins.
Kyra Rose led CSI in the opening matchup with a career-high 24 points, shooting an efficient 12-18 from the field. As a team, the Dolphins shot 35 percent (23-66) from the floor, while Mercy finished at 45 percent (29-of-64).
