STATEN ISLAND, NY - Following his third East Coast Conference (ECC) Player of the Week honor, Aaron Goldstein continues to rake in weekly accolades, earning Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Division II/III Player of the Week recognition for the second time this season.
The Dolphins presented a successful week, highlighted by a historic win over St. Thomas Aquinas, their first since 1979, followed by an overtime victory against Mercy. The pair of wins improved CSI to 5-2 in conference play and second place in the ECC standings, with Goldstein leading the charge. His standout week began Wednesday night, when he joined the CSI Men's Basketball 1,000-point club from netting a pair from behind the arc and he is the fourth player to do since since entering the Division II era.
Over the two-game stretch, the 6'0 junior averaged 32.5 ppg while shooting 59% from the field and 53% from beyond the arc. Against St. Thomas Aquinas, Goldstein knocked down seven three-pointers on 7-13 shooting from deep and poured in 36 points, his second-highest scoring performance in his collegiate career. He followed that effort with 29 points against Mercy, including nine of the Dolphins' 15 points in overtime to secure the 103-98 win.
Goldstein currently leads the ECC in scoring at 21.7 points per game and ranks first in made three-pointers per game at 2.9. Beyond his scoring prowess, he is third in the conference with 4.5 assists per game and sits inside the top 10 with 1.5 steals per contest.
