GAME DAY: WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FEATURES FINAL NON-CONFERENCE MATCHUP VERSUS CALDWELL

1/20/2026 9:00:00 AM

STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island women's basketball team will close out non-conference play in the 2025–26 season on Tuesday evening, hosting Caldwell University at The Tank. The Dolphins are coming off a 1–1 week, highlighted by a key East Coast Conference (ECC) victory over St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Cougars snapped a two-game losing streak with a win over Chestnut Hill on Saturday.

Caldwell Riding Three-Game Win Streak Over Dolphins

Caldwell holds a 3–2 advantage in the all-time series, having won each of the last three meetings since 2022. CSI's two victories in the series date back to the 1980s, beginning with a 64–63 win in their first-ever matchup in 1984, followed by a 90–75 victory in 1989.

Last season in Caldwell, New Jersey, the Dolphins fell 77–69 after being limited to just nine points in the second quarter, while the Cougars scored 21. CSI outscored Caldwell 27–24 in the final quarter, but the second-quarter deficit proved too much to overcome. Dana Phelan returns as the Dolphins' top performer from that contest, finishing with 16 points, two three-pointers, and two steals.

Dolphins Finding Their Second Wind

The Dolphins have shown encouraging signs over their last two games. On Wednesday, CSI rebounded with a 59–50 win over St. Thomas Aquinas, placing five players in double figures. Arielle Barnes led all scorers with 13 points, shooting 5-9 (56%) from the field. Rookie Giuliana Dito tied a career high with three three-pointers, recording her first double-digit performance of the season with 11 points.

Later in the week, CSI battled Mercy, currently second in the ECC standings, and went into halftime tied at 23.

Record Comparisons

Caldwell enters the matchup with an 11–6 overall record and a 5–5 mark in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). The Dolphins stand at 7–11 overall and 3–4 in ECC play.

Individual Scoring Comparison

Both teams feature three players averaging double-digit scoring. Kyra Rose leads the Dolphins with 13.1 points per game while also pulling down 7.5 rebounds per contest. Shonyae Edmonds follows at 10.6 points per game, with Racky Kane close behind at 10.5.

For Caldwell, two players average over 15 points per game, leading the team at 15.8 and 15.4 points per contest, respectively. Their third-leading scorer contributes 11.8 points per game.
