ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY – The College of Staten Island women's basketball team will begin its final stretch of East Coast Conference (ECC) play on Saturday afternoon in Rockville Centre, NY, as the Dolphins take on Molloy University. This will be the first meeting between the two teams this season, and both enter the matchup in the middle of the ECC standings, with Molloy currently sitting fourth and CSI close behind in fifth.

Dolphins Split 2024-25 Regular Season Series With Lions

Last season, the Dolphins and Lions split the regular season series, with each team earning a win on its home floor. In the first meeting on Jan. 22, 2025, at the Tank, CSI defeated Molloy by nearly 30 points. Key returner Dana Phelan finished with 12 points, knocking down four three-pointers. The Dolphins also held every Lion scorer to single digits and forced 22 turnovers, converting them into 27 points.

In the rematch one month later in February, the Lions flipped the script. CSI was held to single-digit scoring in multiple quarters and struggled with turnovers, while Molloy shot 41 percent from the field to secure a 69-45 victory.

Double-Double Rose

Kyra Rose has put together a strong senior season for the Dolphins. On Wednesday night against Queens, Rose recorded her fifth double-double of the year and posted her second straight performance reaching that mark. She finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds, ranking second on the team in scoring for the game.

Rose also ranks in the top five of the conference in two categories, shooting .468 (95-203) from the field while averaging 7.9 rebounds per game.

Individual Scoring Comparison

Molloy features the ECC's leading scorer, who is averaging 19.8 points per game, along with two additional double-digit scorers averaging 12.4 and 10.6 points per contest. For CSI, Rose leads the Dolphins with 14.1 points per game while pulling down nearly eight rebounds per game. Shonyae Edmonds is second on the team at 10.4 ppg, and Phelan has raised her scoring average to 9.9 ppg while leading CSI with 33 made three-pointers this season.

As a team, Molloy and CSI are nearly identical offensively. The Lions rank fourth in the conference in field goal percentage at .371 (419-1129), while the Dolphins sit fifth at .363 (435-1197).
