MEN’S SOCCER FORCES DRAW AGAINST MOLLOY AFTER SECOND-HALF GOAL

STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island men's soccer team hit the road to Rockville Centre, NY, on Wednesday for a late-afternoon East Coast Conference (ECC) contest against Molloy University. After 90 minutes of play, the game ended in a 1-1 draw, moving the Dolphins' record to 4-4-2 overall and 2-1-2 in conference play.

The two teams were evenly matched offensively, with the Dolphins holding a slight 11-10 advantage in shots. In the first half, however, the Lions held the offensive edge, recording five shots compared to two from the Dolphins.

CSI had opportunities to find the opening goal, but Molloy struck first with just one minute remaining in the opening half, sending the hosts into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.

The Dolphins came out with a strong offensive push in the second half, recording two quick shots in an attempt to find the equalizer, but the Lions were able to fend off the early pressure. Moments later, Molloy maintained possession in its defensive zone before a pass was played toward the middle of the field. Dylan Meadows swooped in from the back to win the ball and sent it over to Emmanuel Kambouris, who fired a shot into the far-right corner of the net to even the score at 1-1.

From there, the Dolphins continued to apply pressure, recording six more shots, including three on target. However, Molloy's goalkeeper was able to turn away each attempt as the game ultimately ended in a 1-1 draw.

Kambouris led the Dolphins with the lone goal of the day, while Meadows was credited with the assist. Peterson Larose recorded two shots, both of which were on goal, while Claidi Nurcja, Anthony Benvenuto, Feyisope Osifeso, Alfie Chalmers, Koray Arslan, and Yair Roman each recorded one shot. Carlos Romero Astacio made three saves in the afternoon.

The College of Staten Island men's soccer team will return to action on Saturday for Senior Day against #18 Mercy University at Dolphins Soccer Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 PM.
