STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island women's basketball team welcomes the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday afternoon for an East Coast Conference (ECC) matchup. The Dolphins will play in the second game of the afternoon, with tip-off scheduled for 3:00 PM.
December 15, 2025 Meeting Summary – Dolphins Edge Firebirds
The two teams first met at the start of ECC play in December 2025, battling through four competitive quarters. CSI outscored UDC in three of the four periods to secure a narrow victory. The Dolphins' highest-scoring frame came in the second quarter, when they put up 19 points. Kyra Rose led the charge with eight points and added a block. At halftime, CSI held a 32-29 advantage. The Firebirds responded in the third quarter, reclaiming the lead and carrying a slim 49-48 edge into the final period.
In the fourth quarter, CSI fought back for control. Giuliana Dito knocked down a key three-pointer to give the Dolphins the lead, and CSI held on down the stretch to secure a 57-56 win.
Senior Duo Leading the Charge
Seniors Kyra Rose and Dana Phelan have led the Dolphins in recent games. Rose tops the team in scoring at 14.0 points per game and also leads CSI in rebounding at 8.0 boards per contest, ranking third in the conference.
Phelan has elevated her scoring to 10.5 points per game and has been especially effective from beyond the arc, averaging 3.6 three-point field goals made over the last five games. She currently ranks third in the conference in three-pointers made per game at 2.0.

UDC sits in the middle of the conference standings with a 4-7 ECC record. The Dolphins are close behind at 4-8 in conference play and remain in contention for a postseason berth. With four teams tightly grouped in the standings, postseason seeding remains undecided as the regular season winds down.
