PHILADELPHIA, PA – The College of Staten Island men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the Penn Relays, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, on Friday afternoon. The Dolphins took part in five events and came away with two new school records, one on the men's side and one on the women's side.
On the men's side, the quartet of Sam Whelan, Jeremiah Downer, Steven Elcock, and Karran Riley set a new program record in the 4x200 Championship of America event with a time of 1:27.45. The women followed with a record-breaking performance of their own in the 4x400 CTC section, as Adonijah Washington, Alexandrea Jackson, Adriana Roa, and Jacqueline Washington placed sixth overall with a time of 4:08.36.
Individually, Adonijah Washington competed in the triple jump, where her mark of 12.00 meters briefly held the top spot after her second attempt. She ultimately finished 11th out of 32 competitors with that distance.
CSI also competed in additional relay events. In the women's 4x200, the team of Jackson, J. Washington, Madison Jackson, and Mia Bowden posted a time of 1:49.68. On the men's side, the 4x400 CTC relay team of Elcock, Christopher O'Brien, Ibrahima Diallo, and Riley finished in 3:24.05.
With the regular season now complete, the Dolphins will turn their focus to the East Coast Conference Championships, set to begin April 29-30 in Rochester, New York.
