#4 DOLPHINS' POSTSEASON RUN ENDS AFTER LOSS TO #3 D'YOUVILLE

SPARKILL, NY – The College of Staten Island softball team entered the elimination round of the East Coast Conference postseason on Friday afternoon against No. 3 D'Youville University in Sparkill, NY. Needing a win to keep their postseason run alive, the Dolphins saw their season come to an end following an 8-2 loss to the Saints.

D'Youville struck first in the top of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead before extending the advantage to 3-0 after the third. The Dolphins responded in the bottom half of the inning to remain within reach.

Kaylee Cary sparked the inning with a leadoff walk, and with two outs on the board, Abbie Morris delivered an RBI hit to bring Cary home and cut the deficit to 3-1.

The Saints added two more runs in the fourth to move ahead 5-1, but CSI answered once again in the bottom half of the inning. Bridget Motley led off the frame with a home run, the first postseason home run in the Dolphins' Division II era, to make it 5-2 and provide a spark for CSI.

Following a scoreless fifth inning for both teams, D'Youville added three insurance runs in the sixth to take an 8-2 lead and secure the victory.

Motley paced the Dolphins offensively with two hits, including the historic home run. Morris, Alyssa Acosta, and Aliveah Warner each added a hit.

Marena Grenier got the start in the circle, pitching 3.1 innings with one strikeout. Kennedie Ruth followed with 1.2 innings of relief and one strikeout, while Emma Powell closed out the game with the final 2.0 innings.

The Dolphins officially conclude the 2026 season after a historic campaign that will long be remembered as one of the program's defining seasons in the Division II era.
