COLLEGE OF STATEN ISLAND ATHLETICS

Michael Meagher

As of March 2026, Michael Meagher was named the 16th head coach in CSI men’s soccer history, spanning both the Division II and Division III eras. Meagher joined the Dolphins as an assistant coach in 2023 and is grateful for the opportunity to have learned and grown as a collegiate coach before assuming the head coaching position.

A Staten Island native, Meagher is a homegrown soccer guy.  He grew up playing for Silver Lake Soccer Club throughout his childhood and teens.  He played high school soccer at Monsignor Farrell High School under hall of fame soccer player/coach, Jack Hynes. Meagher served as team captain and helped lead the team to the CHSAA playoffs where they lost in the semis.

Meagher comes to CSI with a strong connection to the local soccer community and local soccer talent. He has 15 plus years coaching both boys and girls travel teams on the Island with the former SI United Soccer Program, now Cedar Stars Academy SI.  He served two years as the Girls Program Coordinator at SI United prior to the merge with Cedar Stars Academy.  In 2013, Meagher came on board at his alma mater, Monsignor Farrell HS, as the head coach for junior varsity soccer.

As Head Coach of the JV Program, Meagher led JV teams to three city final appearances, two city semi-final appearances, and three CHSAA Archdiocesan titles from 2017-2022.  In 2021, Farrell Varsity Soccer returned to the big stage and were crowned CHSAA City Champions and lost in the Catholic State Semi-Final playoffs in penalty kicks to perennial powerhouse Saint Anthony’s.  Meagher is currently coaching the Cedar Stars Academy SI 2008 Boys team.

Some of Meagher’s biggest accomplishments as a coach include being one of the CHSAA AA JV City finalist in 2017, 2018, and in 2021.  Alongside being the CHSAA AA Archdiocesan champion in 2018, 2019, and 2022.  Meagher comes with a lot of experience and priceless knowledge.
