Enjoying a great month of March, outfielder Jennifer Volpe was sensational in CSI Softball’s eight games to kick off their season. Volpe started all eight games for the Dolphins, batting a crisp .400, slugging .560. The senior was also a perfect 15-for-15 in the field, adding team highs in hits (10), doubles (2), triples (1), and stolen bases (4). She also saved her best performances for when the team came back to Staten Island after its opening four-game trip to Florida. In four games against the USMMA and Drew University, she hit safely in three of the four games, going 7-for-14 at the dish (.500) with an RBI. Closing the month of March, Volpe went 4-for-4 in game two of a March 21 doubleheader vs. Drew, picking up a stolen base while making two great put-outs in centerfield. Overall this season, Volpe is batting .403, enjoying a .629 slugging percentage as well, good for tops on the team. The senior also leads the squad overall in the following categories: hits (25), runs scored (15), doubles (4), triples (5), and stolen bases (11) as of April 12.
