Melissa Gelardi of the women’s soccer team has been named Female Student-Athlete of the Month for September 2011. The freshman from St. Joseph by the Sea has had a great first season with the Dolphins
 
In the Dolphins nine games in September, Gelardi totaled 10 assists. On four occasions she had two assists in a single game. On September 21 vs. Mount St. Vincent the rookie had two assists and her first goal of her career.  She currently holds the record for assists in a single season with her number, the previous record being nine assists.
 
Gelardi’s assist numbers are good enough for national ranking where she held the top spot in assists per game.
