Brittany Smith has been named the College of Staten Island’s Female Scholar-Athlete of the month for March 2012. As a freshman on the Women’s Softball team, she has had a great start to her inaugural college career leading the team in batting average, games played/ games started, at-bats, runs, hits, on base percentage, stolen bases, and field percentage for the month.
Smith has led the team in almost every offensive category totaling 32 at-bats with 14 hits. That’s good for a .438 batting average. Smith boasts an impressive .455 on-base percentage where she becomes a real threat. The speedy Smith is a perfect 9-9 in stolen bases and has run circles around opposing teams compiling 12 runs for the month.
