College of Staten Island women's swimming and diving team defeated John Jay College on Friday evening, 55-40. The meet was a conference opener for both teams, CSI now 1-0 in CUNYAC and 1-1 overall and John Jay 0-1 in conference.
The Dolphins were led by senior
Gabriella Villarruel and sophomore
April Bartlett who both took three gold medals apiece. Villarruel took first in the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 21:05.88 and in the 200 IM clocking in at 2:40.52, 32 seconds faster then the second place winner. The team of Villarruel, Bartlett ,
Jessica Pifalo and
Elaina Lei took first place in the 200 Medley Relay finishing with a time of 2:17.32. Bartlett took first with a time of 30.37 in the 50 yard freestyle and 1:14.11 in the 100 yard Freestyle.
The Bloodhounds took two gold place wins; one in the 5000 yard Freestyle and a team win in the 200 yard Freestyle defeating the Dolphins by just 8 seconds.
CSI will travel to Baruch College on Wednesday, November 10 for a 6:00 pm meet, both men and women.
