Box Score The women's basketball team suffered a 63-45 loss to Baruch College on Saturday afternoon at the CSI Sports and Recreation Center. The Dolphins fall to a 6-6 record while taking their first conference loss, 3-1. The Bearcats extend to 11-1 while stretching their conference record to 5-0.
The Bearcats slowly took over the first half as they chipped away at the lead capturing their first double digit go ahead at 11:30. It was the final two minutes that saw Baruch really put the topping on the half as two made free throws by Jasmine Smarr and a lay up by Iyana Abrams gave them a 16 point lead.
The Bearcats came out strong to start the second half as back-to-back shots by Alicea Ulmer and a three points by Henry put them ahead by 21. Minutes later,
Olivia Tierno tried to help the Dolphins chip away at the Bearcats lead with two consecutive layups. However, Baruch went on a 7-2 run for a 22 point lead with just under seven minutes to go. A slow final six minutes, both teams scored just six points apiece.
Jessica Duleba had 16 points and six rebounds to lead the Bearcats. Henry added 15 points and nine rebounds.
Tierno and
Melanie Johnson had 11 points each while
Nikki Fabozzi totaled 12 rebounds.
The Dolphins will be back in action on Saturday, January 12
th as they take on Medgar Evers at 12:00 pm.
