STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - The College of Staten Island women's soccer team put on what looked like an offensive clinic this afternoon as they posted a 10-0 win over conference foe Medgar Evers College at the CSI Soccer Complex, Saturday.
It didn't take long for the Dolphins to strike, as the school's all-time leading scorer
Demi-Jean Martorano made her way down the pitch and capitalized on a pass from teammate
Melissa Gelardi putting CSI up 1-0 just 45 seconds into the game. Just minutes later, junior
Samantha Wysokowski pushed the a shot passed the goal keeper as she intercepted off of a goal kick for an unassisted goal to give the Dolphins a two-point lead.
The goals continued to pour in for the Dolphins during the first half of play as seven different CSI players scored a goal to put the score at 9-0 at the end of the first 45 minutes of play.
Jean Notholt scored on a putback goal off the rebound of a shot by Wysokowski 8:15 into the game, while Martorano tallied her second goal of the day when she capitalized on a pass into the box from Notholt.
Also scoring in the first half was

Danielle Alexandrini),
Kathryn Dowling and
Alyssa Colasurdo.
The only goal of the second half of play came from sophomore
Nicole Molinell who knocked one past the goalie after taking a pass into the box from Gabriela Ramero. This was the first goal Molinell scored in her collegiate career.
While the Cougars did not take a single shot during the game, goal keeper Shantelle Thomas registered 17 saves.
With today's victory, the Dolphins are now 4-0 on the season which marks the best start in program history. They return to action Wed., Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. at the CSI Soccer Complex where they will face New Jersey City for the second time this season. In their last meeting, CSI won 6-0.
