Box Score The College of Staten Island women's basketball team got up early and never looked back, blowing by Medgar Evers College in CUNYAC play, 94-23, at the Cougar Cave in Brooklyn, NY, this evening. CSI improved to 10-3 overall and a perfect 6-0 in the CUNYAC, while the Cougars fell to 2-12, 0-7, respectively.
CSI was firing on all cylinders from the get-go, finishing the game with a 51.7% shooting percentage while holding the Cougars in return to just a 14.8% clip. The Dolphins started the game on a 13-1 run, ended with a
Megan Myhre three, part of six on the night for the sophomore. Medgar did not score their first field goal until almost five minutes into the game, and after that, they went over six minutes without another, as CSI got off to a 35-3 lead.
From there, it was smooth sailing as everyone on the CSI bench saw time, helping the team to 28 bench points.
The Dolphins finished with four players in double figures, led by Myhre's 20 points on 7-12 shooting.
Melanie Johnson was next in line with 17 points and six assists, while
Katelyn Hepworth ended with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Alyssa Carlsen enjoyed a big night, finishing with 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Medgar Evers was led by Mia Tompkins' 12 points.
CSI outrebounded MEC, 58-21, forced 31 turnovers and spread out 33 assists, the seventh-highest total in CSI single game history.
The Dolphins are back in action on Sunday, when they travel to Washington, DC, to take on Gallaudet University in a 12 Noon non-conference tilt.
