The College of Staten Island women's swimming team came up short against Sarah Lawrence College by a 116-80 count in the Bronx, NY today, but three records fell in an otherwise successful meet for the Dolphins.  The loss dipped CSI to a record of 5-6 this season.

After Sarah Lawrence took the opening race, it was time for the 1,650-yard Freestyle and that's where CSI struck first and set their first record.  Freshman Ewa Wojciechowska did the honors, putting up a time of 19:29.75, an all-time best at CSI, winning the race by a full 60 seconds.  Kelly Walsh and Tina Chen added third place finishes in the 200-Yard and 50-yard Freestyle events, respectively, after the record-setting pace.

Next up was the 400-yard Individual Medley, and junior Dakota Dawkins smashed her old record-setting time and set a new CSI record by racing the event in 5:22.20, taking first place in the event by a full 30 seconds.  CSI would later score its next-to-last first place finish in the 200-yard Backstroke, as Samantha Escobedo did the honors there with a time of 2:30.24.  Then, in the 200-yard Breaststroke, it was time for Dawkins to shine again and she did exactly that, posting a time of 2:33.87, another CSI record.

The Dolphins finished strong, winning the 400-yard Freestyle Relay, but Sarah Lawrence was still able to out-pace the Dolphins and secured the win.

CSI is next in action for its regular season finale, when they travel to Adelphi University on Thuirsday, January 22, at 6pm.
