All-Time Series: CSI leads, 3-0
Last Meeting: September 23, 2018 - CSI won, 3-0
Players to Watch (CSI): Offensively, Dolphins fans should look no further than
Samantha LaValle, who is enjoying a stellar debut with the Dolphins, is the team leader with six goals, and is coming off of her first CSI hat trick, scoring three against Keystone College and then both goals in CSI's 2-0 mid-week win over Ramapo.
Lauren Smith has been in the offensive fray as well. She has posted a goal and an assist on the early season and is second on the team with 9 total shots.
Adrianna Parello is guiding the team in the assist column with a pair of helpers. Look for players like
Rebecca D'Aloia and
Lizbeth Aparicio to be key on the defensive wings today, and they often march up to the front to join in the attacking third.
Kaila DiBenedetto has spent every minute in goal this season and is now on a 188-minute shutout streak, having made 10 straight saves.
Players to Watch (SJC): The Bears have been scoring goals in bunches, scoring 26 goals in their last three wins. Leading the way so far is Deserae Sequira, who has posted eight goals to go with four assists on the early season, and is among the nation's leaders with 20 total points on 32 shots. Anisah Molic is right behind her, posting six goals and a team-best six assists to figure into the offense. Julia Lavelle has also been effective with five goals of her own so far. Defenders Hailey Angevine, Rebecca DeRosa, and Lisa LoSchiavo will also be looked at to temper the CSI offense today and a lot of focus will be on keeper Reem Shaban. She has played every minute in goal for SJC, sporting a .576 save percentage with 19 total saves.
News & Notes: A winning streak will be disrupted today as both teams come in streaking. Both of CSI's wins have come on their home-pitch and all of CSI's wins over SJC in the past have come here at the CSI Soccer Complex. The Dolphins have out-scored their opponents, 8-0, in their two wins and have been out-scored, 9-1, in their two defeats. SJC meanwhile, has outscored opponents 26-2 in their three-game win streak, but have been outscored, 12-1, in their two defeats. Today's game is the fourth of five-straight road matches for St. Joseph's. The Dolphins are 3-0 all-time against SJC, having out-scored the Bears by a healthy, 22-0, margin. The two teams met last year in what was the closest match ever between the two sides, ending in a 3-0 CSI win.
Victoria Sanchez is the only returning player who registered a goal in that game, what was her second of the season. CSI did out-shoot SJC in the contest, 28-3.
