STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island women's soccer team concluded its season last Saturday against Mercy University at Dolphins Soccer Park. Following the conclusion of the regular season, the East Coast Conference (ECC) announced its annual major awards, with CSI junior Oskana Zahirna earning ECC Co-Goalkeeper of the Year honors after a career-best season in goal in 2026.

The recognition marks a historic achievement for the Dolphins, as Zahirna becomes the first CSI women's soccer player to earn a Player of the Year honor since the program entered the NCAA Division II era. In the program's earlier Division II seasons, the Dolphins earned three All-Conference selections, but Zahirna made history by securing Goalkeeper of the Year.

During the 2026 season, Zahirna recorded a career-high 92 saves, ranking second for saves in a single season in the CSI women's soccer Division II record book. She also recorded two wins and three shutouts. In addition to her accomplishments in the Division II record book, Zahirna etched her name into the program's all-time record book, becoming the all-time leader in save percentage across both the Division II and Division III eras with a mark of .852.

Zahirna's standout season also placed her among the ECC's top performers, ranking in the top two in both saves per game (9.20) and total saves (92). She recorded double-digit saves in four different games throughout the season, highlighted by a season-high 13 saves against Mercy in the regular-season finale last Saturday.
