The College of Staten Island women's tennis team have suffered two defeats to open up their CUNYAC season, and so they will be looking to reverse their fortunes this afternoon on the road against Hunter College with match time set for 12 Noon at the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows.
CSI vs HUNTER COLLEGE
Matchup: Â CSI (1-2, 0-2Â CUNYAC) Â vs. Hunter (3-2, 1-1Â CUNYAC)
Where: National Tennis Center - Flushing Meadow-Corona Park, Flushing, NY
All-Time Series: Hunter leads 22-13
Last Meeting: September 9, 2017, CSI won 6-3
Players to Watch (CSI):Â In singles play the Dolphins have been steadied by both
Hannah Bruschi and
Mariah DeGuia who are both 2-1 in the early stages. Bruschi is 2-0 in her natural No. 3 position, but has also played at No. 2. DeGuia's three decisions have all been in the No. 4 slot.  CSI has only won two doubles matches this season and so they will hope to get off to a better start today. The duos of
Tristiana Adragna and
Guetanie Romain and Bruschi and freshman
Dilnoza Pulatova are the ones that have earned those wins.
Players to Watch (HC): Luisa Sujan has been brilliant so far for Hunter as she is a perfect 3-0, all in the No. 2 position for Hunter. Maria Kogarova is 2-2 this season, but all in the No. 1 position, so she is holding her own there. At No. 4 Liliko Chung is sporting a 2-0 record, while Monika Zaboklicki is 2-1 in the No. 3 position. Â
News & Notes: CSI has played Hunter more than any other team in program history. It has been a back-and-forth series through the years. Hunter, at one point, took 15-straight meetings between the two sides from 2001-12, but since then the rivalry has been more even, with CSI winning seven of the last nine matches. That run includes the last three, as CSI was able to turn back Hunter last year, 6-3 in Staten Island. CSI has not had a lot of luck on the road against Hunter though, sporting a 2-8 record all-time against the Hawks in that area. These teams share two common opponents. Hunter defeated St. Joseph's (BK), 9-0, while CSI was able to beat the Bears, 6-3. Both teams lost to John Jay College. Hunter fell 7-2 and CSI fell 8-1.
