GAMEDAY: WOMEN'S TENNIS VS JOHN JAY, 3:30 PM

10/11/2019 11:30:00 AM

The College of Staten Island Women's Tennis team plays the second of consecutive home matches against CUNYAC opponents today when they take on the Bloodhounds of John Jay College at 3:30.  Prior to first serve CSI will recognize the program's two seniors Hannah Bruschi and Tristiana Adragna who will be playing in their last home match.  The 0-8 Dolphins will have one more opportunity to win on their home court and the 5-3 Bloodhounds will be looking to bounce back from a 9-0 loss to Baruch in their match yesterday.

CSI vs. JOHN JAY COLLEGE
Matchup: College of Staten Island (0-8) vs. John Jay (5-3)
Where: CSI Tennis Center, 2800 Victory Boulevard  - Staten Island, NY
All-Time Series:  CSI leads, 16-8
Last Meeting:  September 20, 2018 - John Jay won, 8-1
Players to Watch (CSI):  With Tristiana Adragna still the only Dolphin to win a match in singles play this season, CSI hopes that Hannah Bruschi can repeat her performance against John Jay last year when she earned a victory from the No. 3 position.  In her singles appearance against John Jay last season, Adragna was also able to force a third set but ultimately fell in that deciding set 7-5.  In doubles, Mariah DeGuia and Adragna had the most success against the Bloodhounds in 2018 dropping their match 8-5.  CSI hopes that this pairing can lead them to their first doubles victory of 2019.
Players to Watch (JJC):  For the Bloodhounds, Mariana Rodriguez has been solid in the No. 1 position losing only twice thus far in 2019.  The Bloodhounds have also demonstrated great depth int singles play as Rodriguez is only one of four Bloodhounds who have won at least five singles matches through their nine contests.  In doubles, the pairing of Briana Schmidt and Kayla Hanky leads the way in wins, but it has been the duo of Rodriguez and Gabrielle Schuck playing out of the No. 1 spot and registering a 3-3 mark.
News & Notes:  CSI leads the all-time series, 16-8 in matchups dating all the way back to 1986, but the Bloodhounds have won each of the last two meetings in the 2017 CUNYAC playoffs and the 2018 regular season. However, CSI had won the 10 meetings prior to that CUNYAC tournament matchup.  Both teams were also in action yesterday each suffering a 9-0 defeat, the Dolphins falling to Lehman and John Jay dropping their match to Baruch.
What's Next?: With one last match on the schedule, CSI will travel to Patchogue, NY on Sunday to face St. Joseph's College - Long Island at 12 PM.
