GAMEDAY: WOMEN'S TENNIS VS LEHMAN, 3:30 PM

10/10/2019 11:30:00 AM

The College of Staten Island Women's Tennis team returns home for the first of back-to-back matches against CUNYAC competition when they take on the Lightning of Lehman College at the CSI Tennis Center this afternoon at 3:30.  The 0-7 Dolphins are still looking for their first win of the season while the 5-6 Lightning will try to reach the .500 mark with a victory.

CSI vs. LEHMAN COLLEGE
Matchup: College of Staten Island (0-7) vs. Lehman College (5-6)
Where: CSI Tennis Center, 2800 Victory Boulevard  - Staten Island, NY
All-Time Series:  CSI leads, 23-8
Last Meeting:  October 9, 2018 - Lehman won, 8-1
Players to Watch (CSI):  Tristiana Adragna is still the only Dolphin to win a match in singles play this season having picked up the victory out of the No. 2 position.  In her singles appearance against Lehman last season, Adragna was able to take the second set of her match 6-2 before dropping a tightly contested third set 10-8 in a tiebreaker.  Outside of Adragna's singles victory in 2019, the remainder of the Dolphins match wins in both singles and doubles have come by default.  Still in search of their first doubles victory, CSI will look to last year's meeting with Lehman for a blueprint to help them come away with that first win.  In 2018, the pair of Mariah DeGuia and Guetanie Romain picked up an 8-7 doubles win against the Lightning with DeGuia likely to get another shot at Lehman this afternoon.
Players to Watch (LC):  For Lehman, Lizaveta Markouskaya and Diwa Rana have been very strong in singles play so far this season combing to go 13-8 out of the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.  In doubles, the Lightning have also had two very successful duos with the team of Celine Figueroa and Cien Estuye going 3-2 and the pairing of Leslie Juanacio and Joanna Rosario going 6-3.
News & Notes:  CSI leads the all-time series, 23-8, dating back to 1983, but the Lightning have won three of the last four meetings against the Dolphins.  In 2016, when that four-game stretch began, Lehman defeated CSI twice, once in the regular season and again in the CUNYAC playoffs.  However, prior to the 2016 season, the matchups between the two sides were dominated by the Dolphins who won seven straight between 2010 and 2015.  This afternoon Lehman will be looking to make it four out of the last five over CSI while denying the Dolphins their first victory of the season.
What's Next?: Pending potential makeups, the Dolphins only have one more home match on their schedule which will take place tomorrow at the CSI Tennis Center against John Jay.  On tomorrow's senior day, the Dolphins will recognize seniors Hannah Bruschi and Tristiana Adragna ahead of first serve which is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
